Komedia Productions is managed by board of trustees. We are all volunteers and share a commitment to developing arts opportunities for the benefit of the community.
We support the work of Komedia Productions in a variety of ways including:
- Developing new artistic programmes and activities to meet Komedia Production’s objectives
- Promoting the work of Komedia Productions and its children’s and outreach programmes
- Developing fundraising initiatives
- Developing the business case for Trust bids for funding
- Managing and accounting for all charitable income
- Giving management, professional and administrative support Komedia Productions’ work
- Undertaking promotional, marketing and publicity work on behalf of Komedia Productions
Komedia’s Trustees are:
Ian Lowrie who chairs the board. He has been a trustee of Komedia since its formation. In his working life he was the chief executive of two local authorities in West Sussex. He has lived in Brighton since attending the University of Sussex 1971-74 and is passionate about the vibrancy of Brighton and the important contribution to this that Komedia makes.
Liz McOwat (Treasurer and Secretary). A qualified accountant, Liz has worked for organisations ranging from residential training centres, the media and a homeless charity. With an interest in the arts, she became a volunteer business advisor to arts organisations. She moved to Brighton a couple of years ago after a career break spent travelling overseas and joined Komedia Productions as a trustee.
Liz Hall has been a trustee of Komedia since it was established. Liz is the executive director of the award winning disability arts charity Carousel. Since joining Carousel in 1999, the organisation has developed a national and international reputation for its high quality and innovative work. Liz is also a trustee for Speak Out, a learning disability advocacy service in the city.
Professor Del Loewenthal, since arriving as a University of Sussex student in 1969, lives in Brighton when he can and is Director of the Research Centre for Therapeutic Education, Roehampton University. He works as an academic and has published extensively in the Psychological Therapies, Management and Education fields. He is also a practising analytic psychotherapist, chartered counselling psychologist and photo-therapist. Del has been a trustee of Komedia almost from its inception.
Komedia Productions works with freelance professionals to manage all our projects and activities. Independent producer Emily Coleman looks after Hijack and Sundae Club and we employ creative workshop leaders when necessary.
