Back to Live

A celebration of live performance for children.

We are delighted to announce that Komedia Productions are partnering with four brilliant venues in Sussex to deliver a programme of new children’s live performance in 2022.

Komedia – Brighton’s premier live entertainment venue presents one of the largest, most diverse arts and entertainment programmes in the UK.

Brighton Open Air Theatre – Since its opening in 2015 BOAT has gone from strength to strength and is now well established as part of Brighton and Hove’s cultural landscape.

The Old MarketBrighton and Hove’s independent, high quality live theatre and venue. Full event listings for gigs, comedy, theatre, festivals & more.

Ropetackle – Situated on the banks of the River Adur in Shoreham-by-Sea, the Ropetackle Arts Centre is a multi-award-winning, purpose-built venue that attracts some of the biggest stars in the UK and beyond.

Celebrating artists’ new work that has been made in the last 18 months but was unable to tour due to the pandemic, we’ll be working collaboratively to bring to the city of Brighton & Hove and surrounding area, Shoreham a range of theatre shows that can be enjoyed by our local communities.

The festival will take place from Sat 9 – Sun 17 April 2022, each venue will put on a varied programme of new children’s live performance for young children aged 2-6’s; 7+ and the whole family.

We will be welcoming children, families and carers back into our venues and ensuring that as many people can access the festival by running a ‘Pay it Forward’* scheme. We want to ensure that more people can access the festival so will be asking audiences who book tickets if they can pay an extra £5, and we’ll put this towards giving a free ticket to someone who might not otherwise be able to attend. Vouchers will be distributed to local schools, charities and partner organisations.

Expect comedy, music, theatre and much more as we open our doors and invite you into a festival that will delight, entertain and bring people together.

‘Back to live’ will be a very special children’s theatre festival that will see venues, artists and audiences coming back together to experience and share new work, have fun and enter back into the magic of live theatre.

*The ‘Pay It Forward movement and Foundation’ was founded in the USA helping start a ripple effect of kindness acts around the world
