Comedy Workshops for Young People Ages 11–16 in partnership with Brighton Dome Comedy Festival 2025

20 amazing young people from Brighton and surrounding areas took part in a 6-week programme of free comedy workshops as part of Brighton Dome’s Comedy Festival in Autumn 2025.

Across the weeks the young people tried stand up, clowning, sketch comedy, storytelling and more, finding confidence in developing skills in each area and honing the comedy style that suited them most. We were joined by an incredible roll-call of guest comedians:
Tom Veryzer (workshop host)
Michael Akadiri (guest and MC for the show)
Victoria Melody

Sarah Davies (Clowning)

As well as making new friends, working as a team and becoming pros in performance and public speaking, the young cohort learnt about behind the scenes roles such as lighting, sound and front of house. We even invited some previous workshop participants back to mentor the new comedians and act as superb role models.
The workshops culminated in at sold-out live performance at Brighton Dome’s Studio Theatre on Sunday 26th October.
Thank you to Brighton Dome for partnering with us on this project and a huge thank you to all the young people that took part. We were blown away by your willingness to get stuck in, try new things and support your peers to be their funny best.
